On April 27 2016, GAMAR, the Canadian Association of Armenian professionals for the built environment presented in their series of  ’Who is who – Our power and our potential’, a lecture by architect Krikor Kassemjian. This session was titled Society and architecture: architect Krikor Kassemjian presents his experience in Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Kassemjian was briefly introduced by GAMAR chairperson, Mr. Hovig Boghossian, before the lecture began at the Demirjian hall of the local AGBU chapter.

Krikor’s presentation encompassed wide-ranging information regarding life as an architect in Saudi Arabia, as well as some of his greatest achievements. He presented the many aspects of his work with passion and professionalism as he shared with the audience the particularities of architecture in Saudi Arabia. His portfolio includes high-end residential, commercial, and hospital projects. He shared that integrating himself in the Saudi society and culture has helped him more accurately prepare and deliver his designs to the clients.  He drew an interesting parallel between the work of psychologists and architects explaining the importance of listening to the client to better understand their special designing requests.

Mr. Kassemjian was inundated by questions during and after the presentation, as the audience clearly demonstrated curiosity and interest in the lecture. It was overall a highly informative and successful event.
