Canadian-Armenian Political Affairs Committee

The Montreal Chapter of the Armenian General Benevolent Union launched its Canadian-Armenian Political Affairs Committee in November 2014.  The Committee’s mission is to sensitize the broader Canadian community of human rights and humanitarian issues affecting Armenians worldwide.

The CA-PAC seeks to promote the cause of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), as the fundamental right to self-governance is key to ensure the safety and development of the Armenian population of Artsakh.  The Committee also monitors the effects of the diplomatic and humanitarian crises in the Middle East on traditional Armenian Diaspora communities.

The CA-PAC also has a local mandate.   As the Armenian community is expecting large numbers of Armenian refugees from Syria, and both our school and community center will actively participate in their integration, the Committee is the designated organ for communications with all levers of government in order to ensure the success of this process.

The CA-PAC works in close collaboration with local and national Armenian organizations, as well as human rights groups.
