During the meeting, discussions focused thoroughly on the Armenian prisoners of war illegally detained by Azerbaijan, the additional humanitarian aid to the thousands of displaced Armenians, the significance of the OSCE Minsk Group, Canada’s export of military technology to Turkey and finally, the imperative of revitalizing Canada-Armenia relations through a renewed commitment and a significant direction, particularly in light of the upcoming June 20 democratic elections in Armenia.
As a champion of human rights and democracy, it is in Canada’s utmost interests and consistent with its core values, to show solidarity and an increased presence in Armenia, particularly as the latter’s sovereignty, citizens and democracy are under attack by surrounding dictatorships.
