A delegation from AGBU Canada carried out a working visit to Armenia on October 12-14.

The members of the delegation, Mr. Chahé Tanachian and Mr. Hagop Arslanian met with President of AGBU Armenia Mr. Vasken Yacoubian at the Yerevan Headquarters to discuss the overall situation in Armenia and Artsakh as well as to get an overview of the AGBU programs and activities currently serving our compatriots in the Homeland.

Furthermore, the delegation held meetings with elected officials representing all parties in the National Assembly of Armenia, more specifically, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the leaders of the first and second opposition parties.

Discussions with all political forces focused on the current post-war situation in the country, the challenges facing the population in Artsakh, ways of enhancing Canada-Armenia bilateral relations and the upcoming visit to Armenia by Canadian Special Envoy Hon. Stéphane Dion.

The members also met with various groups representing the academic, social, cultural and media spheres in Armenia.

Upon their return to Canada, the delegation will report their findings to the community and outline their working plan in relation to the issues raised during their visit to Armenia.
